When I visited your website, I wanted to paint my monitor with bulk ink to
hide the garish logo, rolling marquee, frames, and overall design of what I
saw.

Jealous competitor, uh?

Poor guess. I don't sell things. Besides that, there's nothing on that
site to be jealous of, so any thought that I might secretly admire it is
rather funny. Did you look at the site before you posted? I know
teenagers who have better websites than that. I could buy a better website
design for less than the cost of a toner cartridge. And if I were a
competitor, why would I give them any clue that would allow them to improve
their site? It would only be to my advantage for them to keep their site
exactly as it is, if that were the case.

I think I'll skip the lucrative "ink and toner" business to amass my
fortune. Selling fizzy flavored sugar water to the masses would be more
profitable and at least as interesting as being a middleman in the printer
consumables business. The bottled water business might even be better... no
sugar, fizz, or flavor to pay for. How does "Agua Alternativo" sound?

I did.
The guy sells ink, for *&&^%$'s sake!
Customers have easy access to his prices and descriptions without having to
struggle with intros, animations, pop ups, dead links, etc...
Who cares if it's designed by a retarded teenager?
I much prefer a site like his when I want to make a purchase.

Now, what I call a crap site:
Let us say you want to purchase a cookery book, go there and good luck!

A marquee is an animation.

The lack of intros, animations, and popups on that site is most likely
because the author hasn't learned how to do them yet. Anyone who would use
a marquee certainly has little concern about obtrusive web design.

There's no accounting for bad taste. said:

Visual design is only one aspect of web applications. Good interaction
design is more important. If a site looks good but is unusable for your
purposes, then it has a good visual design but a poor interaction design.
It's possible to have both a good visual and interaction design.

Now here was I thinking I was offering a sensible answer to a sensible
question! Someone wanted bulk inks - we supply them. There was nothing
sinister in the response to a direct question for a UK company that
supplies bulk ink. It certainly makes you think twice about offering
any advice to this board in the future.

Nobody implied that you were doing anything sinister. I just don't like
your website and I said why I thought so, that's all. No need to take it as
anything beyond that (and I've seen worse sites, so I don't even think your
site is entirely bad). On the other hand, it's a good idea for businesses
to think twice about posting anything promotional to newsgroups, since you
and your ISP might regret all the hassle you might cause yourself for such
little return, even when you follow the newsgroup rules.

I don't have any problem with direct, on-topic promotional responses to
specific requests, such as you did in your original post, as it would
generally allowed by the charter of newsgroups. If you can't handle some
honest criticism, then maybe you should rethink your participation, but not
because I wouldn't welcome whatever relevant advice or comments you have to
offer. My opinion was honest, but merely my own. Malev seemed to like your
site. I'm sure that there would be a wide range of opinions if everyone
responded, so take it with a grain of salt, as the saying goes.

Which was totally irrelevant as far as the subject was concerned and totally
unhelpful to anyone looking for bulk ink.

Posting a URL makes it fair game for comment. Before you comment on the
relevance of my posts, perhaps you should look at your own.

And posting a comment that simply slams the URL will make your post
fair game for comment. The guy did provide a resource and response.

Go to email if you are eally concerned about the website.

Maybe you should reduce your signature so it's smaller than the content of
your posts, if you're concerned about netiquette or the bandwidth of what's
posted here.

hmmm.... talking of bandwidth...notice how I have reduced the size of
the message considerably by removing non-relevent parts of the thread,
thereby saving more than I cost from my sig....

Apart from which your whole contribution to this thread has been a
complete off-topic waste of time....

Apart from responding, I never would have posted anything else to the
thread. You apparently want to keep the thread alive. I don't care one way
or another. Your choice.
