Build 615?

C

Chuck B

Downloaded Build 615 this morning, when the website
indicated it had been released. First, I uninstalled
build 614 using control panel's Add/Remove programs.
Second, I found the MSAS file in programs with remaining
contents, so I deleted the file. Then, I installed new
build. When I go to "about MSAS" to check
the version, it indicates 1.0.614 with defs 5725. Am I
missing something? I did delete all temp files and temp
internet files and offline content before beginning the
process. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

It takes some time for the new versions to reach all the mirrors of
Microsoft's download servers. Try again in a day or so.

[Also, if your ISP operates a transparent web proxy cache, this might be
holding stale copies of the download].

I downloaded "615" at 3 AM Tuesday and it still says 614
after installing... The download information page says the
new build is 615, downloaded from MS after validation. I
also used add/remove to remove the prior 614 install (after
turning it off from system tray). I then also deleted the
program folder. On installation, it went through the full
install/setup.

I'll try again later in the day. I'm in Wichita, KS so what
mirror did I get?

Jim:

If it helps, the 614 download is 6,816,904 bytes and 615 is 6,860,424 bytes.
This may help you tell the difference between the two. I downloaded 615
yesterday evening (7/18).

Also, I no longer live there, but I am from Hutchinson! :)

Ah, Hutch. Were you there when the city exploded due to the
gas wells leaking?

I still am getting the 614 download even though the page
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a2-6a57-4c57-a8bd-dbf62eda9671&displaylang=en
says that the update build is 615. Going to try it again,
thanks for the byte count.

Nope. I missed that "fun". My parents were pretty nervous and one of those
many vents was drilled in a baseball diamond across from my grandfather's
house. I think they were burning off so much gas from those vents that they
could have turned off the streetlights! :)

I was going to offer to e-mail you the file until I realized that I wouldn't
accept a file from a stranger. So here is a link to BetaNews where they have
a link to download the file straight from their servers:

Good luck!

I did all that, turned MSAS off from the system tray icon,
uninstalled MSAS with add/remove. Deleted all Internet
files, deleted MSAS folder from program files. The
downloaded file is the old file...did MS develop and release
the 615 build in Europe but not yet in the USA?

Thanks, Ill try that link.

You're correct, I don't like to do files from unknown
senders.

Were you using MSIE or some other browser for the download? It not MSIE,
then you need to clear the web cache of whatever browser you are actually
using.

Does your ISP operate a Transparent Web Proxy Cache between you and the
outside world? If so, the stale version might be in their proxy cache.

Otherwise, you might have been trying the download from a Microsoft mirror
that had not yet updated.

Yes, I've thought of that ISP issue, my ISP is a college and
not a major provider. I have tried using MSIE and Mozzila,
clearing temp Internet files.

I'll see if I can reach somebody at the college to have them
flush their server.

Thanks
