Bug Report? News menu item under Go does not stay!

G

Guest

Hay all,

I have started to use the newsgroups through Outlook to post items.

I followed the instructions given in the help to add the "news" item to the
Go menu. It stayed there for the duration of Outlook being open. After
closing Outlook, then reopening it later in the day the "news" menu item no
longer appears under Go. When clicking customize to see if the "News" item is
there so I can place it back on the Go menu it does not exist in the list of
available commands.

What gives?

Known issue posted here several times a day.

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

I am having this same problem. How do I add Microsoft Office Outlook as an
option under newsgroups when I follow this process? I don't have Outlook
Express on my machine and this is what the newgroups tab has as the only
option. The other tabs have multiple choices.
I don't want to set up my newsreader every ime I want to read the newsgroups
I subscribe to.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Um... you need Outlook express installed to use Go, News since Outlook uses
the newsreader part of OE.

I finally got it to work. The part I missed is the check on the prompt window.

I don't believe that for an instant. ;-)
If you have WIndows XP, you have Outlook Express.
and this is what the newgroups tab
has as the only option. The other tabs have multiple choices.
I don't want to set up my newsreader every ime I want to read the
newsgroups I subscribe to.

What newsreader would you like to use?
