Bug in SP2 -- Wireless networks

I have an IBM Thinkpad running a 2Wire 802.11b wireless
NIC. I have found when I go into hibernate or sleep, then
come out of it, the wireless icon shows as not connected
and does not find my wireless network. A reboot fixes
this problem. Disabling and the re-enabling does not. Odd
thing is, I am still connected as I can view websites, as
well as other PC's on the network. This started after I
upgraded to SP2 yesterday. Now, here's what I have tried
to fix the problem and the results:

Disable/Re-enable : no change
Search for networks : none found
Reboot : Restores normal operation but is a pain to have
to do all the time

Any input on this?

Thanks,

Justin,

this could be a BIOS defect. Have you checked for the latest
version of your laptop's BIOS?

I also think this warrants a question to the manufacturer. After
all it sounds as if all owners of this type of laptop could have
this same problem after they installed Service Pack 2.

It could, of course, be a pure Service Pack 2 problem as well,
we can't be sure.

Check that SP2 has in fact installed the correct wireless driver (device
manager), or reinstall the original driver.

I have the same problem on my HP Pavilion 4630us. Once I
hibernate then I cannot reconnect any internet
connections; email web or anything else unless I reboot.
However I had this problem before I installed SP2
(althought the earlier updates must be much in common.) I
am also running Zone Alarm. Switching it off didn't help.

David,

you may either have to uninstall it entirely or upgrade to the
latest version and set it up properly.

Please see http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm for details.
