BUG!!!!!! (Exchange mail setup) - version 2003

M

Miki Peric

My friend set exchange account in Outlook 2003 by mistake. We, in our
company, are not using Exchange and we never did. He just wanted to set SMTP
mail server, not Exchange. Now, when he start Outlook 2003 it try to contact
Exchange server and when it fails it throws a dialog where Exchange info
could be entered. If we click on "Cancel" button, Outlook exits. If we click
on "OK" button it try to contact Exchange. There is no way we could open
Outlook and then somewhere in options set SMTP instead of Exchange options.
The only thing we see is this Exchange settings dialog at outlook startup
and then Outlook close.

That is not called a bug but badly configured. Setup your correct account by
going to Control PAnel-> Mail. Remove the Exchange account and add the right
account type for you.

Thank you.

I went there to remove it and I got next message:

---------------------------

Account Manager

---------------------------

You cannot delete the account containing your mail, contacts and calendar.

You will first need to create a new location for your personal data.

From the File menu, click Data File Management, and then click Add.

When you go to Control Panel-> Mail you can add an Outlook Data File as well
but it's eassier to start of with a new mail profile by pressing the button
Show Profiles... Remove the current one and add a new.
