BSOD

system is :- asustek P4R800 Deluxe, P4E 2.8Ghz, 1GB ram, using the onboard
graphics, 10GB maxtor IDE as "C" drive+2* 120GB SATA in raid0, OS is XPPro
SP2loaded on the "C" drive.
The problem is that with just the OS and Spybot software installed, the
system gives BSOD at some point in a spybot scan. The crash can happen at
any time during the scan. Ive tried taking 750 MB RAM out and just leaving 1
in but the problem does not change, Ive tried all the different memory odules
and they all display the same symptoms. Could this be a power suply problem
eg spikes on the supplies causing this?

As you appear to be determined to make our task of assisting you as
difficult as possible this http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm is the best I
can do.

People don't necessarily "appear to be determined to make our task of
assisting you as difficult as possible"...sometimes it's the way we chose to
interpret the information given. Maybe not everyone is as experienced at
formatting their questions as you are.. If insufficient information is given,
it's quite easy to ask for more..and so much better than being cynical!...
Thanks for your link anyway.

Initial BSOD indicated there was a problem with the graphics. As the system
still stopped whilst running processor/hard disk intensive programs, I
reloaded the hard disk after formatting it and testing it for errors to
eliminate this as a source of the problem. I just put on XP Pro SP2 and
Spybot so that I could subject the system to similar conditions as before.
Now the spybot program is hanging at no particular point during it's scan and
the microsoft report indicates a hungapp. The version of spybot and its
definitions are also being run on other machines quite happily so I have no
reason to think that it is corrupt. I've tried using the latest video
drivers from Asustek but there was no difference.

Tried that, didn't solve it. Changed the PSU for a 400W one as there are 2 *
sata drives attached as well as a 10GB IDE drive...no luck. Reloaded windows
again, stalled during installation. Put in an AGP4 card and reconfigured the
bios to look at the AGP slot at boot up...no change. Flashed the bios with
the latest..no change...fell out of my tree for any further ideas!!...Unless
the mobo is stuufed, but I can't understand why it boots and then at some
indeterminate time, decides to stop running a program...Beats me!!

Seems like you've tried everything I can think of.
