Windows Vista BSOD 1000008e Error

Hey guys

Ive recently got bought new hardware and im not sure if its the OS so ive posted this in Vista software and hardware section. (edit (Ian): Just once is fine ;) I've removed the one in the hardware section)

However im getting random BSODs (even when configuring updates before logging on) and I need to sort it very soon as I ahve a LAN on thursday!

Without seeing the minidump it would be hard to diagnose (you can attach it to a post so we can see it).

Some common things that might fix it, please try all these:

1) Have you updated all your drivers, especially your nvidia card and chipset drivers
2) Run a full AV scan using http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
3) Run a memory check using http://www.memtest.org/

I have done a windows memory check thing so i dont think its (3), im in the process of doing (2) though which it isnt, because it done it straight after a reformat =[

How do you know it's not #1, are they already up to date?

When you says it's just been formatted, are there any 3rd party applications on the PC at all yet? Or did it do it as soon as the install completed?

I know its not #1 because ive gone through them all to see if they are the latest drivers

and yes it happened before I had anything 3rd party installed =[

Have you tried removing what ever the new hardware is that you installed..?See if you get a dump then...

What make of PSU are you using?

When you tested the memory did you test one stick at a time and test it in slot one on the board?

Hi,

Have you tried using the onboard graphics if so did it BSOD? Are you using the latest BIOS for your broad P5QL-EM 0601 BIOS?
