When xp would normally go the log in screen it advises
an improper shut down and request start up choice last
known good start,safe mode etc. after that selection or
countdown this is what appears:
The dreaded blue screen with the following lines---
Stop c0000218 {registry file failure} the regisry cannot
load the Hive (File):
\systemroot\system32\config\software\ or its log alternate
It is corrupt absent or not writeble
Beginning dump of psysical memory
Dumping psysical memory to disk.
it then shows counting slowly up to 100 then the system
re boots and repeats the process. I attempted to boot
from the cd but cannot even after setting the bios to see
the cd first. Any suggestions would be appriciated
