On a Dell Inspiron E1505; C2D; 2gigs ram, 250 gig hdd, my system crashed
and the BSOD message was "FILE_SYSTEM". I didn't catch the rest of the
message, but the usual "If this is the first time...".

Upon reboot, I get the "SAFE MODE", "SAFE MODE W/NETWORKING, etc.
screen. The mouse pointer moves and the Vista screen saver comes up after
10min. Clicking is futile, CTL-ALT-DEL is futile.

Any help?

Hi,

Sounds like a file system error alright. You'll need to have some method of
booting to a Vista DVD or something like BartPE where you can run a disk
integrity check. Basically, some method of working from outside the
operating system, something that I doubt Dell has supplied you with.
