Browsing Stops after 10 minutes

Hi

I have just recently re installed win2000 pro. Everything
went absolutly fine

Anyway, ten minutes into browsing using IE6, it all stops.
I don't mean my internet connection because my email
program works and so does others (MSN Messenger, YAhoo
Messenger etc).

Its just the Internet explorer. It just won't go anywhere
after about 5-10 minutes. I can ping the modem and also
trace to internet sites with the Tracert command

Any ideas??

Eliminate all parasites.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

and:

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.

I had an identical problem which threw me big time. Unless the timing is a huge coincidence the cause I suspect is that you have just downloaded the new version of Zonealarm and selected the 'Upgrade' option on install. For some reason this screws up the internet access settings after 10 minutes for some windows programs. God knows why, weird problem

Solution

Uninstall Zonealarm, restart, download the program again (hope you can do this within 10 minutes!) Start the installation and when it asks, select 'Clean Install.' Then when it gives a Yes/No question as to whether you want your default internet explorer programs preconfigured select 'No' (Ask me when programs need access). Then simply click on 'Allow' when the popup appears for the windows programs requesting internet access

Hope that works for you, did for me.
