Browsing Network While Using Dial-Up Connection

Running Windows XP Pro, SP1

While connected to a LAN, I can use My Network Places to browse the network
and connect to shares. When I disconnect from the LAN and use a dial-up
connection to my ISP, the ability to browse the network goes away, even when
using a VPN connection to another LAN. IPCONFIG shows that NetBIOS over
TCP/IP is disabled. I have selected both the "Client for Microsoft Networks"
and "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" options in the
Networking tab for the dial-up connection's Properties. Any ideas on how to
get NetBIOS over TCP/IP working while dialed up to an ISP?

In case anybody reads this, the solution turned out to be upgrading to Cisco
VPN Client 4.0.3. That fixed several problems with Microsoft networking.
