browser window won't load...other app's fine

I have just recently gotten rid of a few viruses on my system with TrendMicro's Pc-cillin. My system is doing alright now except for one small problem
I cannot get ANY browser window to open(unless it is associated with another app.)

I have tried to update and it fails. I have downloaded Netscape and it did fine but will not open a browser window. My Yahoo and MSN messengers work fine as well as my Weather Bug. Upon trying to open a window on my own I see the hourglass showing the sys is working, then, nothing. No window, no errors, no nothing

What can I do? I am a freelance writer and need my sys working right. I may not get to check this forum for a few days so please post replies here (for others' use) and send to: (e-mail address removed) . It would be very my appreciated. Yes, my Outlook Express still works fine, too.

This is probably being caused by third party programs- malware/parasites.

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That should allow IE to work.

You might also be able to browse and download programs from the address bar
of Windows Explorer.

Download and run Run CWShredder from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
CWShredder is only about 125 KB so it could be downloaded from another
machine onto a floppy disk if necessary.

Then download, install, *update* and run both of these programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ (Remove items listed in red-others are
optional.)
Both programs should be updated after installation- before use.

You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.
