I am experiencing a problem where I.E. 5.5.sp2 will not
launch. Everytime I attempt to launch it wants to send an
error report to MicroSoft and that's all it does. I have
tried re-installing the browser 3 times and have tried
upgrading to I.E. 6 sp 1. Nothing works. Right now I am
using Mozilla to access the Microsoft site and post this to
the newsgroup. Ironic huh?

I have had the same problem yesterday. I have found a solution in this
group:

From IE> Tools> Internet Options
or
Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions."
It relly works

Evgeny

I'm having the exact same problem. It happened all of a sudden about 2
days ago. I did a virus scan and have found nothing. I reinstalled
Explorer, and nothing works.
I am accessing this from a Netscape browser, which I had to download
specifically to figure out how to fix Explorer.
I'm going to have to instruct all of my programs to oupn stuff using
Netscape. When trying to access Help files from any other application,
Explorer will not even launch.

I started having the same problems yesterday. I have uninstalled and reinstalled IE 6. It now effects a few other programs that I try to run, namely Outlook and Photosmart. It constantly brings up Windows Installer and asks for a disk. Although they typically run without the disk, this is very frustrating. Anyone have a solution?

We had this same problem yesterday. We found the solution that worked for us in this discussion group. Type in the url http://00hq.com. At the bottom of the page click on Unistall Winshow Popups, that should fix the problem. I see a lot of people are having this problem. Hope this works for you.

IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
