browser problem

I know most people ar tring to get rid of popups and ads,
but my browser does not display the ads in many websites,
including msn homepage. The sections where the ad would
normally be, has the annoying 'this page could not be
found, check network settings' message. While he actual
content (news, etc.) is visible, there are a few of these
messages crammed in the space that was set aside for the
ads.
I recntly had some trouble with spyware nad adware and
have been using some freeware downloaded from cnet
to'fix' my pc. Any ideas out there?

are you using spybot search and destroy or ad-aware

The programs (antispy etc) you shouldn't have in your computer.
