Browser Launches Unwanted Windows

Mike

Something has happened to my IE6. While surfing the web
the other day Windows popped up a warning that files were
being replaced with "unrecognized" versions and asked for
me to insert my Windows XP Disk. I declined and I guess
now that I should have put the xp disk in.

Now whenever Internet Explorer is open, ever so often a
new browerser window will open up. Very annoying.

I've scanned with the latest Norton Anti-Virus software
and no virus's seem to be present. Reinstalled Windows
XP, and even ran sfc / scannow to no avail.

Any clues? Help appreciated.

It sounds like you may be the victim of a browser hijacker (Spyware). Go to
ZDNet and grab a free copy of Webroot Spy Sweeper. It should confirm this.
Unfortunately, I do not have a solution. This just happened to me, and I'm
looking for answers too.

and over and over about every 10 seconds. I have to close down my pc in
order to kill the process. Virus scans run clean.....any ideas...
