Browser hijacker

I have a browser hijacker that I can't get rid of. I
have tried with Norton anti-virus, MS new AntiSpyware,
and Ad-ware(free home edition). It appears that this
hijacker has settled in the registry and continues to
regenerate itself. I turned of the system registry to
look for the virus but could not identify the hijacker.
I think it is in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER or the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Two more Spyware/"Baddies" tools might help you. HiJackThis
and CWShredder. HiJackThis requires a deeper understanding
of what to leave and what to remove. There are dedicated web
sites where you can post your HiJackThis log and responders
will help you sort through it. That's one of the big issues with the
Spyware problem, Cleaning it up doesn't always remove it and
after a few days of use - You'll have issues again, Although Asw
and Spybot do use Real-time monitoring and immunization to keep
known threats at bay.

I personally would suggest checking out Spyware Doctor by PCTools found at
www.pctools.com. Although the other freeware stuff that is mentioned on this
thread are good (I've used spybot, and all the others), well, you know the
ole saying "you get what you pay for". I used them and found all kinds of
flaws in them, and because they are pretty much free, the writers are not
getting errors out of them....oh don't get me wrong, they are good free
programs, but one thing I have found with the freebies, besides the above, is
that you need more than one to get all the hijackers/tracking cookies...etc
off of your system. I have found that using just SpyWare Doctor is all that
I needed. Of course I proved that to myself first :) I ran all the other
programs mentioned in this thread + spyware doctor and found it to be true.
I needed multiple spyware programs to catch all that spyware doctor caught on
it's own. In my opinion it is well worth the money I paid for it. In fact,
I purchased multiple copies of it so I could use it on all my systems at
home, a total of 3.

Over the weekend someone recommended the new Microsoft
spyware tool beta version, it worked quite nicely for me.
Download and install from Microsofts download page. Also
it is recommended that you run it from safe mode, press
F8 repeatedly when booting up, running it in safe mode
allows the computer to have minimal proccesses running.

Good luck and it's free, it is good for about 180 days,
meaning Microsoft will probably release the final version
on or before then.

After running it, post the log to one of these specialty forums below,

No need to purchase an anti spyware program. Those listed above plus
Adaware will handle it.

Note: It's imporant that all scans for spyware should be done in safe
mode.
