every time i open an IE window, my homepage is redirected
to some search page. it is listed as 'blank' in the
options. MS antivirus fixes the problem, but it comes
back every time i open an IE window.

Restart in safe mode by pressing the F8 key before the initial Windows
screen appears.

Do full, deep scans in safe mode, until a scan comes through clean--perhaps
2 or more scans.

If that doesn't do the job, write back with some identifying information
about the item that isn't getting removed. Also, submit a tools, suspected
spyware report.
