We just got an Acer Travelmate 290 laptop with WinXP and
IE6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 installed. Over the
weekend something happened and now all the fonts are
displayed too big and background colors in table cells
vanish. We thought it was an accessibility issue, but none
of the settings were changed. I have never seen such a
problem in my life.
To recap:
1) Fonts are too big (even when view/text size is at
smallest) and even in buttons.
2) Background images disappear. For instance, on
www.google.ca there should be coloring behind "Web",
"Images", "Groups"... etc. But there isn't.
3) Looking at the support.microsoft.com site, the search
field takes up all the screen height, and so do each
individual character in the display for some reason.
I thought it might have something to do with a custom style
sheet that got corrupted, but we don't use them here. All
style sheet properties get ignored anyway.
I've tried reinstalling IE6 sp1 but because there is a more
recent version the program won't let me. I can't find the
same program version to download. Must be an XP only thing.
Help. I'm using Netscape 7.1 and starting to love it.
