Brother MFC-7420 over wireless

I have a wireless network at home, and three printers connected (via
parallel) to a Linksys print server. This Linksys is connected via ethernet
to my wireless router. I'm able to print to any/all three printers without a
problem. The Linksys print server requires that you install a printer via
parallel (i.e., Locally)...then "install" it to the Linksys. It apparently
translates the local (LPT) traffic out its ethernet interface...to the
router...to the computers on the network. Again, all work fine.

Today I bought a Brother MFC-7420 print/copy/scan/fax machine. I downloaded
just the printer/scanner driver from the Brother website. I connected the
Brother via parallel cable to my laptop and my Win98SE machine found the
printer; I pointed it to the driver I just downloaded. Everything installed
fine. So I disconnected the parallel cable from the laptop, plugged it into
the Linksys print server. Went to config the print server, and yes, it saw
the Brother printer (over wireless TCP/IP)! Great. I printed a test page
wirelessly to the Brother...again, no problem.

I opened up IrfanView to try to scan. Went to the menu to select TWAIN
source, and there was my Brother printer listed, so I selected it. I went to
Acquire new TWAIN image, and the Brother scan driver software interface came
up. Bingo, I thought. Unfortunately, when I hit the Scan or Pre-Scan buttons
onscreen, I get an error saying it can't connect to the Brother. Dang. The
same happens in reverse: if I hit the Scan hardware button on the Brother
machine, it instantly gives me a "Check Cable" message on the LCD.
Apparently, although the Linksys print server says it supports
bi-directional printing/printers, something's talking through the wireless
signal.

Same thing happens when I use the Brother "Control Center" interface to try
to scan. I also can't get the Control Center's fax interface to talk to the
printer via wireless.

Does anyone know if I have any chance of getting this Brother machine to
talk to my print server? Any ideas? Thanks.
