Broken Recycle Bin

J

Joe

My recycle bin is on the desk top bu when I open it, it
shows nothing. When I drag a file into the opened recycle
bin folder it simply disappears. Files are in the bin but
I can't see them.

I ran in safe mode and the recycle bin works there. That
is when I drop a file into the opened recycle bin file I
can still see the file. It doesn't disappear.

So I conclude somethings running in the background that
makes the recycle bin transparent...right?

Problem is I don't know how to identify running programs
(other than the ones I see on the task bar).

How do I identify programs running in the background with
XP? How do I stop them one by one till I find the one
stopping the recycle bin from displaying its stored files?

I was using Norton System Works which somehow installed
its Protected Recycle Bin. I uninstalled both Norton
System Works and Norton Utilities. Although this allowed
the normal windows recycle bin icon to be displayed when
I click it open it still won't display the files stored
in it.

Please help. I emailed Symantic about this and they say
I'll have an aswer in 3-4 business days. Thats next
Thursday!!

HELP!

Have you right clicked on the recycle bin and gone to properties?

In this screen you will find all of the settings for the Recycleb
bin. If either the checkbox "Do not remove files..." or the
slider is set too low, this could explain what you are seeing.
