Hi,

Please advice. My client network environment runs in wireless settings
with 1Mbps. Since last week, the Internet was extremely slow. However,
after checked with ISP provider, they have been configuring to port and
make sure bandwidth is 1Mbps.

Currently my guys (engineer) helped performed some test
1) modem router & notebook - extremely good, all ping got replies
2) modem router & switch & PC - ping command return with reply some
time, most of the time "Request time out"
3) modem router & switch & server - ping command return with reply some
time, most of the time "Request time out"
4) modem & PC or modem & server - ping command return with reply some
time, most of the time "Request time out"
5) suspect network card problem, connect modem router to another PC
which has network port - same slow response.

No way, all does not recover the network.

So, is this
a) wireless issue?
b) virus issue?
c) hardware issue?
d) connection issue?

how to solve all?

Have a look on your modem/router and see if it give line-diagnostic
information. In particular see what the downstream signal-to-noise ratio is
like. If it's less than 10dB then expect some intermittency, if less than 6dB
then expect a connection-drop every time the phone rings.

A network-card problem could easily be ruled-out by copying a large file
between two internal computers, and estimatiing the BPS it achieves.

Not also that some sites don't respond to pings these days, so a ping
failure is not necessarily indicative of a fault. This is done to prevent
spammers portscanning the domain for open mailservers.

Thanks Lan. Anyway, i need more information on ways to troubleshoot the
matter. Could you please assist?
