Broadband dial up

Please help, setting up broadband dial up on four computers.
Running 1.) 98 SE= 2.) XP Prof) =3.) XP Home)= 4.) XP Home
Now the first three are working, but the forth one states Connecting to WAN
Miniport (pppoe)
then the computer freezes on verifying username and password. Anybody knows
how to solve it?
The PC connects to the LAN, sees all other computers in the workgroup, so
the supplier says it must
be XP, I should be using Linux and it can only be a software problem. He
re-installed XP but it is still
freezing, and I don't have any idea why. Another Computer with XP dials up
on the same connection,.. no
problem. The Router is a Billion 5100 set up as a bridge. Can any body help
please??

I don't quite understand why you want to setup the connection this way, it
seems like a very complex and troublesome approach.

Would it not be better to set the 5100 to act as NAT router (its normal
mode) and use its DHCP server to assign IP addresses to the computers? That
way there is no 'dialling' and the computer settings are very simple.

Thank you, but I could setup the router, only question ist why is it doing
it
it is in any case a bad sign if during any operation a PC is freezing. The
other
PC's are working and I don't like the idea to switch a PC on an he is
directly
connected to the Internet, I also have a few more older PC's on my local lan
which I don't want to be on the Internet, only on the LAN. I have connected
a number of PC's using XP's Broadband Dial up no Problem whatsoever so
is it the software or the hardware or a driver?
