Broadband Cable net disconnects when Idle

Hi i have Broadband internet connection, and after a random time seems to be after i leave the computer alone it randomly disconnects and cant connect back to the dchp server. I am using a cable modem and the modem is fine I have had it checked out and reinstalled the drivers and it worked a bit longer. I am sure there is a idle disconnect but i cant find it.

ur ISP must have given u the connection utility that you use to connect to
the net. see if you can find that "no idle" option in that utility.

this is a long shot but maybe the power options have that turn off hard disk
or standly thing where your comp. will do those things when its idle. u
might want to take a look at those settings. again this isa long shot. :)

I had this same problem. My cable modem connects to an Ethernet card on
my computer. I went to Device Manager (right click My Computer and
choose 'Manage"), and double clicked the icon for my Ethernet card,
under Network Adapters. On the Power Mangement tab, I cleared the
checkbox for "Allow Windows to turn off this device..." That solved the
problem.
