Bright Blue Characters

I just recently noticed that I have a number of files under Windows that are
bright blue, rather than black. The majority of the blue files under Windows
are Updates I've downloaded. But under ie7 and ie8 directory the files have
all blue characters. Did I inadvertently make this happen or what??

OK, did some more research and found my answer. Apparently if the file has
been compressed it is shown in blue.

Hope I didn't waste anyone's time!

By design, WinXP automatically compresses files that do not get used
frequently, and, if you've left the default settings intact, displays
those files in blue. If you wish to change this behavior, in Windows
Explorer, click Tools > Folder Options > View > Advanced settings: Show
encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color.
