Boxes show as the letter G

We have a document that has the symbol that looks like a checkbox. It looks
okay on everyone's computer except the person that needs to print the
document. The boxes look like G on her screen and prints up as G's. There
are other problems with the document that no one else has when they open the
document on their computer. What settings would she have on her computer
that would cause this?

I suspect that user doesn't have the font used to create the checkboxes and
her system has substituted something like Times New Roman.

That person apparently doesn't have the font(s) used to create the
document.

When you CREATE the document, go to tools/options/save and set it to
embed the fonts used in the document. Alternatively, insure that she
has acquired and installed ALL of the fonts used in the document,
including any fonts accessed through "insert symbol"
