bought a boguss license???

I purchased what I believe is a legal license number from
AG Solutions PC agsolutionspc.com. I have a copy of
Windows XP I received from my friend. When it comes time
to enter the key, it says it is invalid. What is going
on? The license says - Windows XP Pro 1-2 CPU - then the
key, and there are more numbers on it that I have no idea
what they are. Please help-....!!!!!!!!!!!

For one thing, there are very few legal ways to get a sticker without the
CD, so it very well may be bogus. And I just checked the website; they're
selling Dell oem cds, which is definitely not legit, so that sticker you
bought is definitely questionable.

For another, the versions have to be the same, so if that's an oem key and
your friend has a retail CD, it's not going to work.

Their are different types of licenses. There are OEM licenses and retail
upgrade and full version licenses. You cannot apply one to the other. You
probably purchased an OEM key and are trying to use it to activate a non-OEM
version of windows.
