both computers using xp home ,however network only goes one way

i'm struggling to set up a home network,i'm using two desktops runnig xp home a d-link di-604 router,with a straight thru rj45 cable.the host can acess the client,however the client can't acess the host.both machines recognize they're part of a network,and i can acess the internet from either machine.any suggestions will be most helpful and appreciated.

Hi.
I do not understand the Host Client affair.

Since you have Router there is No Host.

The connection should look like this:
