bootvis: Idle period during bootup

My fresh install of WinXP pro takes 40+ secs to bootu
I installed bootvis to trace bootup delays, bu
no process takes more than a couple of seconds
Though, half way thru the boot process there's no
activity shown. What does that mean? CPU is idle, n
drive initiation, no disk write or reads

I'm sorry Frank,
I must of hid the question within all that text.
Question: Why does XP idle during bootup?
I mentioned that bootvis shows a gap of inactivity
spanning 20 secs....What the heck does that mean?
Or better yet, how could I interprete that idle moment?
I'm suspecting it has to do with my network
and net settings.

I was thinking that 40sec seemed pretty good - mine finishes booting in ~ 60
sec, but that includes ZA and Norton AV.

When I look at bootvis, it does show XP finishing boot at 26 sec - with a
sec or two with no/little CPU activity.

Do you have Driver Delay enabled? It'll show you how long it's taking
drivers to load.
