Is Microsoft or Any of the Hardware Manufacturers even
looking at developing a computer(including OS)that will
be instant on like PDAs? When will they move that
direction and forget the "as we know" bootup process?...?

I think they work on it but it because a standard computer is somewhat
different from a PDA you cannot simply take over the technology.
Hibernation mode is a new invention which comes somewhat close to
that.
