I have noticed over the last week or so that it takes approximately 3
minutes for my computer to boot up and get to the Welcome screen. I haven't
loaded any new programs lately and have checked my boot.ini file to see what
programs are loading (nothing out of the ordinary - Norton, my pop-up
stopper, Zone Alarm, etc.). While I'm at the welcome screen and log in
using my password, I've noticed that it takes over 90 seconds for my
personal settings to load. What could be wrong? Thanks in advance.

Download bootvis and run it. That will help.

If you had a network connection before, but unplugged it now, Windows still
tries to scan the network.
After 1 minute it times out. This might explain the long delay at boot and
login. If so, disable the network adapter.

You can still get it. Go googling or if you want, I can post it on an
ALT.BINARY.* newsgroup for you.

Larry, I've had the same problem and tried everything. The fix I have is to unplug your lan connection or disable the onboard ethernet in your bios. For some reason Windows always looks for network connections and this can take minutes
