Booting XP with MS Boot Diskettes

J

JJ

Having tried to clean up soime pests manually, my PC hangs
at the Wondows XP logo screen, so I attempted to use the
six XP boot disks available via the MS website to get it
going. Disks 1 and 2 appear to work OK, but when disk 3
is inserted, I get a message to say that "File
SETUPREG.HIV could not be loaded" and "Error code 514".
Any ideas?

Yes, you can't use those disks for this purpose. This disks have one
function, that is to begin XP setup on computers that do not have the
ability to boot from the CD.

The XP CD is bootable and has all the necessary tools, Recovery Console,
Repair Install, information about which you can find on Help and Support on
the Start Menu.
