Hi all,

I just re-installed XP SP2 after formatting my HDD. Trouble is that each
time I boot up it defaults to user "Administrator", not "Dave", (me). I have
to then log out of the "Administrator " account & logon as myself. I have
full administrator privilages, if that helps.

I've installed XP many times before, but can't remember how I got around
this. (Or if it ever happened).

Can anyone give me an idea what I need to do to be able to turn on my PC &
automatically go directly to my account?

Thanks,

Dave.

Use the 'Control userpassword2" method as described in this KB article near
the bottom.

How to turn on automatic logon in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315231

You will want to place checkmark for "Users must enter a user name and
password to use this computer" then click Apply first. Then follow the KB
article to configure for Automatic logon.

Thanks for that. It worked perfectly. Greatly appreciated.

Dave.

You're welcome Dave.
