My system refuses to boot from XP Home Ed. w/ SP-2. I
installed a second XP and can now see all of the original
files but cannot run programs or access personal files.
Please let me know how to get original version to boot.
Thank you.

If you installed into a different folder you might have some hope of
repairing the original one; but if you booted the CD and took New
Install, accepting the place where it was before you have just dumped a
new empty registry on top of the old, and in the process lost all the
installation information about the programs: you will have to install
each of them again (choosing for them the same folders as before)
