I have a laptop that will not noot because it says that the ntfs.sys file is
missing. Although I could perform a system restore from the discs, I do not
want the lose all of my files. What could I do?

Thanks

Copy the file from the discs you have. It will probably be in a i386 folder
and be compressed ntfs.sy_. The copy routine will uncompress it. Copy it to
\windows\system32\drivers. You should probably rename the original ntfs.sys
to ntfs.bak before copying the new one across.

It is actually the "NTFS.sys" File that is missing.
