Booting up XP

Every time I try to re-boot the screen stays Black with
white writing as in the initial startup and can stay this
way for over 1 hour and then I will get the message,

FDC FAILURE
PRESS F1 TO RESUME.

Any clues as to why it is doing this......

PS This is a fairly new system bought October last year
running Windows XP.

Help needed.

This has nothing to do with Windows. You computer is saying something about your floppy. Do you have one.
 
Check your floppy drive cable, it may be loose, and or
the power supply connection to the floppy, your pc is
saying your floppy is not reachable for some reason!
