Booting Up & Crashes a problem

I have been using Windows XP Pro for about 3+ years. Lately, the following
problems seem to have erupted:

1. When I boot up, I get the following message near the end of the boot:
"Windows - No Disk -- There is not disk in the drive. Please insert a disk
into drive. Cancel; Try Again; Continue." If I click on any of the 3, the
block remains. If I click on the (X) top right, 3-4 X, it will disappear. On
a couple of occasions, I inserted the Windows CD, but it made no difference.

2. On occasion, it seems to crash or freeze particularly with WORD 2003. It
even crashes or freezes with Spider Solitaire. Necessary to reboot.

3. The computer has been running extremely slowly particularly with WORD and
occasionally with the other Office prorams. Internet explorer (beta7) is also
quite slow (I use Telus broadband).

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated as it gets a bit annoying at
times.
Thanks. Norm.

(I filed this question in microsoft.public.enable.issues which I think was
the wrong location - apologies)

That message could indicate that there is a problem with your hard
drive. Go to the hard drive manufacturer's web site, download their
free diagnostic testing software, and run it to check out the drive.

Good luck

Hello "Norm75:

I have seen a similar problem, it turned out to be a trojan. Do you have an
up to date AntiVirus program running on your system? if not you may want to
try the totally free avast virus cleaner or other similar product that are
available on the web. Hope this helps, regards, Andres
