Booting from DVD?

Guest

Hi there

I have an HP dv5094 notebook, with 1GB RAm, an AMD Turion 64 and 100GB ard
memory.
I have Windows XP home (32) as an OS.

Can I save the ISO to a DVD and boot from there? Or do I have to wipe my XP
to try Vista.

I have downloaded the 64 bit, but on reflection think that 32bit would cause
less hassle with the software i have etc. (Norton, etc.)

I don't really want to loose where my laptop is at the moment and would like
not to install on the notebook if avoidable.

I f I do, can anyone tell me the steps to take for a paralell install so
that i can boot with either XP or Vista?

Cheers

Any help or advice would be appreciated

you can boot from the dvd and install it, but you will no longer be able to
boot XP.
an alternative option would be to use a partition manager to resize your XP
partition, giving you room to create a seperate partition for vista. then
boot from the dvd, and install to the new partition.

Norton causes enough problems with XP. I assume it will cause even more with
Vista. be sure to check out

you always run a risk of losing data when you run a beta. if you want to
avoid it, just don't install it. be sure to back up your hard drive before
installing if you choose to go ahead with it. and I strongly recommend not
installing it on a computer you need for work.
