bootable CD for diskless systems (XPe)

Hi Slobodan,

I followed all the 7 steps given at msdn:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d.../html/xehowtutorialcreatingbootablecd-rom.asp

My target pc is a pentium 2 machine with 385MHz processor+320 MB of RAM. My
hard disk's primary partition is 643MB and I run FBA at this partition. I've
to make bootable CD for diskless system, image size after FBA is: 320MB. I
ran bootprep utility on my primary partition and partitioning system is
FAT32,

First problem I get is: "windows delayed write failed" after FBA, when i
boot to XPE to delete ewf partition. When i ran ewfmgr, i got the following
results

EWF volume configuration
Volume Size 64512
segments 0
segment size 0
free segments 0
Max levels 1
Max protected volumes 1
Protected volumes 1
EWF volume percent full -1.#J
protected volumes

Device Name "\device\harddiskVolume1" [C:]

And when i run ewfmgr C: command i get

protected volume configuration

type RAM
State DISABLED
Boot command NO_CMD
..Param1 0
..Param2 0
Persistent Data ""
Volume ID DF C9 DF C9 00 7E 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Device Name "\Device\HarddiskVolume1"
Max Levels 1
Clump Size 512
Current Level 1
Meomory used for data 0 bytes
memory used for mapping 0 bytes

Second Problem: If i make POST FBA cd anyway, it starts booting from the CD
and at welcome page it gives error ISASS.exe and then reboots.

Please help me, I shall be highly obliged.

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

Huh MS guide, ok.

In step 5:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...owstep4runfbaenableewfonyourrun-timeimage.asp
Insted of bullet 13 do following:
- etprep /delete
- etprep /reset
- use regedit or reg to delete all entries under: HKLM\System\MountedDevices
- do gracefull reboot for instance C:\windows\fba\fba -reboot
- Let XPe boot again from HDD.

It must boot if you did above as I said.
- run ewfmgr C: let us know what it say. If it is reg ram ewf and if it is enabled then this same image you can copy to El-torito CD
and then it should work if not let us know about additional problem.

Regards,
Slobodan
