boot without login prompt?

I wish to boot a system without having to enter a login name and pwd.
In "users and pwd" the box requiring name and pwd is unchecked.
What am I missing?

If you choose no password that usually works. What are
your network settings? Are you setup fpr windows logon or
microsoft networking? that can also make a difference.

As I recall, "windows logon" is associated with win98. I am running
win2k pro.

As I stated, in "control panel / users and passwords" the box is
unchecked next to "use a name and password for login"! Are you referring
to something different that I have overlooked?

This is where you set it. If it does not work on your PC then there
is something wrong with your installation. You can walk around the
problem by installing TweakUI. It's free.

Hi,

There is a registry key you can add that will provide automatic logon, username and password details. I can't recall exactly what it is but just do a search on MS web site, it should be there somewhere.
