BOOT UP SCREEN

Hi there
this ia a problem I have not come up against before I wondered if anyone
else has.
When you first switch on the boot up screen displays various things and then
tests the memory well normally this stops at the available memory then
continues to boot. but at the moment it keeps on going and I have to press
any key to stop it then it can boot up. I have looked in the bios but can
find nothing to help.
Can anyone give me a clue as what to do

Your post is a bit unclear, so please clarify - are you saying that when
you first start your computer, it does not complete the POST (power on
self test)? If this is the case, then you have some sort of hardware
failure, probably the RAM or hard drive. Here are some generic hardware
troubleshooting steps:

For hardware issues - 1) open the computer and run it open, cleaning out
all dust bunnies and observing all fans (overheating will cause system
freezing); 2) test the RAM - I like Memtest86 from www.memtest86.com -
let the test run for an extended (like overnight) period of time -
unless errors are seen immediately; 3) test the hard drive with a
diagnostic utility from the mftr.; 4) test the motherboard. If you
can't do this testing yourself, take the machine to a good local
computer repair shop (not a CompUSA or Best Buy type of store).
