Boot up problem

I have winxp SP2. I was doing a recovery from my cd and just after it had
loaded all the drivers and was ready to do it's thing the power went out in
my area (really sucky timing).
I was able to fix the original problem but now it still thinks it should do
the recovery when i turn on the computer. At boot up it has two options, the
default one is to continue the recovery or i can highlight normal startup.
If i don't hit any key it goes into the recovery startup and can't find the
files and hangs. Then i have ctrl-alt-dlt and select the normal.
So my question is how can i get rid of the option for recovery at bootup so
it just seamlessly starts windows. Is there an option in the boot.ini file
that will get rid of recovery startup option (if it is boot.ini how do i
edit this since it won't let me read that file into a text editor)? Or is
there some other file that needs to be modified?

Remove the line for the old recovery in [operating systems] Be sure 'default=' points to the new OS

(or) In XP, press WinKey-Break,(or start/run 'sysdm.cpl'), Advanced Tab, "Start Up and Recovery" area, Settings button, then edit
the old line out with the 'Edit' button. Reboot
