I am running windows XP home edition. It has a built in network adapter
from Realtek. For some reason when the computer boots up it takes forever
to load up and get to the screen where u have to enter your username and pw.
I went into safe mode and in device manager and for some reason under
network adapters, about 6 other adapters show up. In parenthesis some of
them say PPP, PPOE, etc... I disabled them but still the computer takes
forever to load up. I don't know how those got there, but it takes forever
to disable them let alone uninstall them. Is there some way that I can fix
this problem without having to reformat and loose all the data on my pc?

what is the RAM of the computer?
I remember my computer having the same problem with 128 MB RAM, I have
upgraded it to 384 MB RAM by adding extra 256 MB. Now it works well and
boots up fast and all the programs run even faster. kool uh...
so try it

I have 128 MB or Ram.....but that is not the problem becuase the computer
used to work perfect before. For some reason there are a whole bunc of
weird network adapters showing up in device manager.

If you are not actually =on= a network (or using the network adapter to
talk to a broadband router) then you could try disabling the device in
your PC's BIOS, if it has that option (it should do).
