Boot Problems

I have been having problems booting up for the first time (restarts are not
affected). for example, my moniter doesnt recognise a signal when i initially
turn my computer on. i have to turn the PC off from the back and turn it back
on several times just to get the moniter on. Then, my computer will freeze up
during the intial boot, the windows boot, and the login. In order to get the
boot to proceed, i turn the computer off from the back again. after it has
passed one of these stages successfully, it will not freeze again, unless of
course i turn off my computer. For example, once it has sucessfully gone
through one windows boot and freezes during the login, after i turn it of and
on again it will not freeze in the windows boot. However, when i turn on my
computer (even though there isnt anything being displayed on the moniter)
and leave it for ~15 minutes (i havent timed it exactly) i can then come back
and turn it the power source off and on again and it will boot through
without a problem. This problem first occured when i put in the second
processor and upgraded to xp pro. This problem happens nearly exactly the
same every time i boot up my computer.

for further clarity, i was running windows 98 when i had one processor in my
computer. i then recieved the second processor, put it into my motherboard,
and upgraded to xp pro. the second processor is not recognised by my OS but
it is recognised by my motherboard (a seperate problem i am trying to
resolve) I have two AMD Athlon XP 1600+ processors running on a tyan MPX
motherboard. My graphics and sound card seem like they would not affect this,
but if you suspect they might then i will give you them.
