Boot problems

XP has been running great - all of the sudden it's
started taking FOREVER to boot! Sits at first screen for
about 8 minutes (the one that says "press F1 or Del to
enter setup). After that it works fine, and all of my
programs work, with no error messages. I've run Norton
Utilities, scan disk, defragged - but no problems found.
Any ideas?
 
that's not a problem of windows xp. probably something on the motherboard
failed, a failing hd, or bad ram.
