Boot Magic

Partition Magic was used to create a 20GB FAT32 partition on a 120GB drive running Windows XP, with idea of eventually creating a dual boot system with Win 98 SE. Boot Magic was intalled on this partition then accidentally deleted, deleting Boot Magic. Now on startup I receive an error message relating to Boot Magic and telling me to reinstall it. I can press Enter and boot into XP. When I attempt to recreate the 20GB partition and reinstall, I receive a message saying it can't find the partition where Boot Magic was previously installed. I would like to remove the bootmanager that creates the message. Anyone know if there's anyway to do this or will I have to completely reinstall and reformat?

My other problem is that this is a new Dell Dimension 8300 and I can't directly access the XP install disk without first using the Dell disk. Trying to get through some of the language barriers with Dell tech help can be frustrating.

Hi Linda

What you can do is at the Start button type Run - Regedt.
Then the first thing you should do is File and Export the
registry just in case. You can save it to you desktop.
Then do a search of the registry for all instances of
Boot Magic. As you find them just delete them. Ater you
are done, reboot and you should not get that error
anymore.
