Try using your monitor adjustments to adjust the screen while the boot screen
is showing.

Are you using the TV-out port of your video card? When I start my
computer and have a tv plugged into my video card, the image on my lcd
screen is shifted downward some. Unplugging the tv before starting up
fixes this problem.
