I just installed sp2 for the hundreth time. So far everytime i do, i reboot
(click Finish) and get to the Windows XP home splash screen (where you see
the little blue (or green) progress bar animation) and it freezes. I then
proceed to shutdown the computer via the power button (because it no longer
accepts keyboard input after it hangs), when i reboot it goes to the "Windows
was shutdown improperly" screen and i select Boot to safe mode with
networking so as to look for yet another fix for the problem. I have tried
everything and read everything from something to do with drwatson to a
problem with certain early prescott chips...I dont believe it has anything to
do with my BIOS and microcode because i can boot to safe mode and when i boot
normally it makes it to the splash screen (also CPU-Z says my intel is a
Coppermine at ~600Mhz). So pleeease...any help would be very much
appreciated as this is my last resort.
