boot from compact flash or pcmcia-ata without xpe

Hi!
Does anyone know, if it is possible to boot from a compact flash or a
pcmcia-ata drive with Windows XP. I know that Windows XPe does so, but I
don´t want to use windows XP embedded.
Is there any possiblity to copy only a few files from an embedded
installation to the XP installation to do so? Or does anyone know any other
way to boot from non-persistent drives?

Jens,

You don't need files you need to modify registry to support this. But this
is too complicated to explain how to do this.
