Hi,

Is there no way to make the same great start diskett in Windows XP as you
could do in Windows 98 & Me (with CD support and all dos tools)?

If you have a retail copy of XP then the CD is bootable and contains all the
tools you need.

Well,

I can't see how I can use this CD if I want to install something else than
Windows XP. I need to be able to start my computer having access to both the
diskett station and the CD device beside the harddrive (from a command
prompt).

Well you didn't make that clear. ANY boor diskette will do in that case. W98
for instance.

No. You can make a very basic disk in the course of Format from My
Computer, but only with enough to be able to run a straightforward
program (like a BIOS flash). Use a 98 startup floppy - but bear in mind
that DOS will not see a NTFS partition on a hard disk
