Boot Diskette?

D

Dan Allen

Hi,

I don't know if this is a stupid question, but is there a
way to make a system boot diskette in XP?

Put another way, what do I do if one day I start my
computer and it won't boot? How would I recover data from
a hosed system disk?

Is there a way to boot a system with a diskette anymore,
or did that go out the window with Windows XP?

As always, any information on these questions will be most
greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Insert Diskette. Go to my computer. right click the
floppy drive, and go to format choose the option to creat
an MS-DOS startup disk (towards the bottom)

If you have a Windows XP installation CD, it's bootable, and
that's your emergency startup disk.

You can also download a diskette set from Microsoft.

The equivalent is done by booting the XP CD direct, and using the R
option (do a search in Help and Support for "Recovery Console Commands")

If you do not have a proper CD, you can get the means to make a set of
six floppies to achieve the same from
